Assessment Centres

Cornium HR Management, Renewable Energy ClientsNowadays companies are thinking more carefully about the methods they employ to recruit new employees - and, just as importantly, about the huge cost and impact of recruiting the wrong person.

Assessment Centres as a means of recruitment have been popular since the 1980’s, offering peace of mind to the recruiting organisation through increased accuracy and reliability.

An Assessment Centre comprises a series of exercises designed to give individuals the opportunity to demonstrate their competence in a number of key areas, and is used for recruitment purposes. The exercises will vary between Assessment Centres depending on the type of job vacancy and the competencies to be assessed.

The variety of exercises used at the Centre enable the individual to be observed and assessed in different situations. The exercises can include:
ability or aptitude tests; group exercises; individual exercises, such as case studies or in-tray simulations; role plays; presentations; interviews and personality questionnaires.
